Madinah joins SDG Cities Global Initiative

The Al-Madinah Region Development Authority (Saudi Arabia) has expressed its intent to join the SDG Cities Global Initiative.

The Regional Development Authority of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, signed a letter of intent with UN-Habitat to join SDG Cities.

The two entities intend to collaborate towards accelerating sustainable development in the City of Madinah and improve well-being for all through the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The participation of government institutions at the regional and city level is required to achieve the SDGs through the provision of tools, to strengthen local capacities and collect data to inform planning processes.

Madinah has been listed on the International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) Smart City Index and ranks second at the level of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Riyadh, fourth regionally and 73rd globally.
